SCP invited to share 25 Years Extraordinary Experience of Suzhou Industrial Park with Liverpool University

On 9th April 2019, SCP Consultant Pte Ltd President (China) Mr. Chen Qining was invited by Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University to give a lecture on “Drawing on Singapore’s Experience in the making of Suzhou Industrial Park” to Professor David Shaw and his students. Lectures and students from Department of Urban Planning and Design, Department of Architecture, Institute of Future Cities participated in this lecture.


2019 marks the 25th anniversary of Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP). Mr. Chen Qining shared the concept of SIP, systematically review and summarise from site selection process, top-level design, software transfer, planning design and management, infrastructures, housing, commercial and social facilities, industry investment and promotion, ecological environment protection and utilization, cultural and tourism development, to the achievements and experiences of SIP, as well as future key focus area (such as spatial planning, urban renewal, smart city, etc.), extending discussion and interaction with Professor David Shaw, lecturers and student. 


Before the speech, Mr. Chen Qining and Senior Associate Professor Joon Sik Kim, Dr. Xu Yunqing, Dr. Paola Pellegrini of Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University Department of Urban Planning and Design exchanged ideas on practical cooperation between the two parties. SCP and Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University signed MOU in 2014, both parties have achieved beneficial results in health city research, smart city development, ancient city conservation, city renewal, talent development since cooperation. Both believe that with the international academic resources of SIP, SCP’s global projects experiences, international spatial planning experiences of both parties, there are broad opportunities for cooperation in areas such as ABC (artificial intelligence, big data, smart city) application in city planning, city renewal, etc. Close interaction between the academic and practitioner can be fostered through regular visits, workshops and conference forums.
